Task description: This week during I had free time, so I got to chooses what I wanted to do, I decided to do summer learning journey. I did task called ‘Poetry Slam – Wha – Blackout poems’. After that I completed the task, and I posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. My Blackout Poem: Roses aren’t always red & violets aren’t exactly blue. The society that we live in never seems to speak the truth. Smiles aren’t always happy & frowns aren’t always upset, people judge too quickly & our feelings are what they forget.
Hi Zaria this is a truly cool blackout poem in my opinion. The poem is familiar with the old saying “Roses are red violets are blue” with a new twist. What was the original text like? It looks as if it was interesting too. Glad to see you are in the slam zone. Nā Matua Dave

I found this poem to be very insightful and could definitely spark some great conversations between two people. My favourite line is ‘Frowns aren’t always upset’, I think this is a very clever insight – it reminds me of the saying ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, have you heard of that saying before?
