Transum Level 1-4 Questions

Task description: This week during Maths, we are learning to recognise that to find the value of the missing number, you have to ‘undo’ what has been done to it. We had to find the value of one variable; two steps to vole; may involve decimals and integers. My highlight was finishing the task really fast because it was really easy. My lowlight is answering the questions because it was boring but I finished them. I don’t have anything to work on this week, but anyways I enjoyed doing maths today. And if I’m being honest it was the easiest work I’ve had so far this term. My group was only supposed to do level 3 and 4 but I finished early so I did level 1, 2, 3 and 4. I wanna try doing level 5 next time we have maths. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Thank you!

Thank you ma’am: Word Associations Activity

Task description: This week during Reading, we are learning to identify and discuss the theme. We are also learning to identify and discuss the author’s stance and message. For this task we had to choose which word goes where and give a reason or reasons for our choice. My highlight was finishing my work pretty fast and being able to understand my work really well. I don’t have a lowlight for this week because so far I have had fun doing the work and been able to do it really fast. This week I don’t have anything I want to work on as I have understood my work and finished it off really fast. After that I completed the task, I posted it on my blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Algebra Operations

Task description: This week during Maths, we are learning to figure out what the bags represent and what they equal up too. It was a bit tricky to add the numbers together because you get really confused with the numbers. My highlight was finishing the task really fast because it was really easy and doing it with my friend. My lowlight is answering the questions because it was boring but I finished them. I don’t have anything to work on this week, but anyways I enjoyed doing maths today. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Thank you!

Thank you Ma’am: Response to text

Task description: This week during Reading, I did Thank you Ma’am – Respond to text. We had to read a 4 page story called “Thank you Ma’am” by Langston Hughes. As a child being raised by his grandmother in Lawrence, Kansas, Langston Hughes began a lifelong exploration of literature and blues music. He later went to Columbia University, worked in hotels, and travelled the world as a cook’s assistant. After being discovered, Hughes went on to write novels, short stories, and plays as well as poems. Hughes’s work shows a special understanding of everyday people – people who may not be famous or rich but whose lives are inspiring and valuable nonetheless.

This reading work was really interesting to complete and the book was really weird because the lady was angry with the boy and kind of kidnapped him for about an hour or so. The lady took the boy back to her home and told him to wash his face. She then made some food for them and asked the boy about his life. The boy had a really tough and hard life. He had no family to look after him at home and that he was struggling with money and food. Then the lady released him and told him to not steal her purse ever again.

My highlight was making the video with my buddy, because it was really fun and behind the scenes we just giggled and laughed. My lowlight is reading the book because it was long and answering the questions because it was boring and kind of weird. Something I’ll work on next time is to start enjoying reading more and to start understanding the text. I enjoyed reading today. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Thank you!

My Mini Movie – By: Zaria

Task description: This term for my DLO I had to present a movie of a day in the life of a person who takes care of themself and their body. This is because our theme for this Term is ‘fit for purpose’. Meaning I had to create an animation of a day in the life of a child who has a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Some possible factors to include could be:

  • Eating well
  • Sleeping well
  • Exercising
  • Meditating
  • Positive attitude
  • Self talk
  • Etc

Our animation were expected to include a voice over to add greater detail and information for our audience. Our animation should also include music to engage our audience and be shared on our blog. I had to explain and show what I’m doing and what we’re learning by doing this experiment. After that, I had to put my animation into “iMovie” and turn it into a full movie.

My movie had to show a day in the life of a healthy person. The first thing a healthy person would do is sleep well as it improves your brain performance, mood, and health. Anothing thing a healthy person does before they start their day is give themself a positive self-talk to improve self-esteem, stress management and wellbeing. Also brushing their teeth and washing their face because that is a part of hygiene and good personal hygiene is one of the best ways to protect yourself from getting infectious or diseases such as COVID-19, colds and flu.

Eating healthy food because a healthy diet is essential for good health and nutrition. It protects you against many persistent noncommunicable diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Next is exercise which is also really important to improve your brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to do everyday activities.

Lastly a good thing to do on a daily basis is something I call “Me Time ” and during that time you do what you want, something you love, something relaxing, such things could be:

Self care: Doing a self-care routine has been proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, increase happiness, and more.

Listening to music: Provides a total brain workout and research has shown that listening to music can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory.

Alone time: Alone time is a great opportunity for self-reflection and self-discovery.

It’s just some time for you to take care of yourself and relax.

Anyways now that we have come to the end of my movie I hope you enjoyed seeing things you can do to stay healthy, mentally and physically. I try my best to do most of this on a daily basis.  I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed it. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Algebro 1

Task description: This week during Math, I did Algebra 1. We had to answer 4 hard & tricky questions. I had to work with my friend. It was really tricky that we ended up working with our teacher Whaea Saf. Algebra looks hard to learn but it’s easy when you actually learn it. But today’s work was more tricky than last weeks.

My highlight was finishing my work pretty fast and being able to understand my work really well. My low light was that the maths problems were written properly and we had to make it up as we went. This week I don’t have anything I want to work on as I have understood my work and finished it off really fast. After that I completed the task, I posted it on my blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Tongan Travel (Measurement L3)

Task description: This week during Maths, we had a task to do with Tongan language week. We had to look at this Tongan Travel and answer questions. We then had to make our own graph about four of our friends. I choose Tumanako, Mary, Vika, and Lynette. My high light was finishing it really fast even though I was not able to understand my work because the task was confusing as it didn’t give us the information we need to answer the questions . Low light not being able to do DLO or Maths Whizz because we had lunch early because of cross country. For this week I don’t have anything I think I need to work on as I am very proud of myself. I worked on this task with my friend Swaimah, you can check out her blog to see her post. After I completed the task, I posted it on my blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Vocabulary Swap

Her jaw dropped as the phone line dialled out in a fade… The phone thumped on the ground sending shivers down my spine. She rushed to get in my car. The hospital was hours away from my house as she said to herself “I have to see her, please be okay, what will we do if she doesn’t make it!?!?. Poor Tara. I have to be with her!”

As she drove frantically thoughts ran through her head. “Turn green you f**king light” she yelled so loud that the car next to her could hear her. He gave her a ugly look, but she didn’t care, she wanted to see her sister.

Some time later…

She pulled into the carpark nearly hitting every curb she turned, but that was the least of her worries. She ran out of her car not even remembering if she locked it or not. She asked the lady at the counter desperately “what room is Aria Smith in?” The woman replied with “ room 69 level 3.“ She pressed the elevator button and waited but it wouldn’t open so she ran up the stairs.

When she reached the room, Tara was on the floor crying as her mum laid still on the bed. I rushed to her side, I couldn’t bare to see her like this. “Come my darling, we’re gonna be okay, she’s gonna be okay, don’t worry my baby” she said in Tara’s ear as she calmed her down.

They sat there crying for hours, her body hasn’t moved an inch. She was gone. “I didn’t even get to say goodbye, she left me alone in the world! What am I gonna do without her!?!? I miss her already… Why did she have to go, I need her” cried Kimmy as she sat on the floor in disbelief…

Task description: This week during Writing, I did a Vocabulary Swap. What we had to do was fill a table with 10 adjectives and/or verbs, then your friend (Swaimah was mine) will give you their 10 verbs and/or adjectives. We then had to make a story with those words and bold them. It was really fun to do because our stories came out good.

My words were: Be, gave, have, dropped, ran, come, said, see, make, get

My highlight was making a story out of random words. My low light was that my friend hated the words she had but in the end she worked it out. Something for us to work on is trying to give harder words to each other. After that we completed the task, we posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Country Physical Poster

Task description: This week during Reading, we were making posters on a country of our choice. I chose to do FInland. I was gonna do it alone but then my friend Swaimah wanted to do it with me so we became partners. We reached Finland for 2 weeks and gathered information about the place and its history. We had a lot of fun doing that but it made us so happy seeing all our hard work come to life and it all being worth it.

Our highlight was making what I had in my mind coming to life. Our Low light is cutting the papers and worrying if the papers won’t fit. Usually we have something to work on but I think this week we did a good job. After that we completed the task, we posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Blog Commenting – Cybersmart Challenge

Task description: This week during Cybersmart, we are learning to write quality blog comments. This is to help us write comments that are positive, thoughtful and helpful. This challenge is about quality blog commenting. Meaning we are learning to write quality blog comments is an important aspect of Smart Relationships. For this challenge you’re going to write a positive, thoughtful, helpful blog comment. This is important so you can form smart relationships online.

We had to put a comment together using the new skills and starters we had learnt about positive, thoughtful, helpful. We had to choose a blog post from your Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu buddy class, or from another student in your class, and use the template to help us craft our comment.

High light was being able to understand my work and learning about how to write a comment, low light not being able to do faster because I got busy with other things. Some thing I can work on spending less time on the task and working faster.

After that we completed the task, we posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.
