Manaiakalani Film Festival Script

Zaria💗✨
Dear future Parliament,

Firstly to start this off on behalf of everyone, I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and everything you’re doing for our education and our furniture but there are some things us kids are unsure and concerned about, this is because we feel our voices aren’t really being heard and us children have questions and we’re reaching out in hope for answers. And as our prime minister it’s your responsibility to listen to our voices yet only kids at the age of 18 or over can vote, but what about us: 10-17 year olds. Because anything you do as our new leader will affect us growing up and our future. And not only us but the new generation and the one after that. As children a lot of times we are just misunderstood and our voices are covered, and we demand we are heard. I think that they should at least consider our opinions and hear our voices, because this affects us and the next generation more than our parents or grandparents. Just because our voices are small doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be heard. And I’m not trying to be rude but it’s something that should be taken under consideration.

Dear future leaders,

On behalf of everyone, Thank you for the amazing things you have done for us. We appreciate it, but there are some issues that are not being spoken of as much as they should. Our next generations are not looking good with all these horrible things that are happening to our planet, Climate change, global warming, like the fires in Hawaii, and the bushfires in Australia that happened a couple of years ago. animals going extinct, deadly diseases, pollution…! And somebody needs to be a voice for our future generations since they don’t yet have a voice and cannot be heard. We cannot be heard because we cannot vote in elections as we have to be 18 or older. And we know this might be for the best but you should still consider our ideas and opinions as it will affect us more in the future than you grown ups. Talking about earth… Our planet might not stay in a healthy living environment for long, the air is getting humid, and deadly diseases are becoming more popular, Covid 19 is just one example for these diseases. our leaders are the people who have the biggest say on these issues but are still the ones who make the little mistakes that have the big outcomes. Don’t get us wrong, we love what you do and all the time and effort you put into your job to make New Zealand a better place. But please think about the voices who cannot be heard before you make decisions.

Kensi 💋
Dear Government,

Thank you for all the hard work you do to educate us and for our future, but as a student and child growing up in this generation, I have some questions: Why is everything super super expensive? On behalf of us Kids, I would just like to talk about how important education is to all ages of people, that means from babies to the elderly. First I would just like to give you some suggestions, In my opinion School taxes should be lower so that families who aren’t doing well for their kids can afford it, also uniform Stationary should be provided at school only and should be sold for $10 or $20 dollars at least, Government, all im asking you to do is make school taxes and everything else cheap, I mean look at all the poor children struggling to learn

Dear Government,

On behalf of the children from this Generation, I would like to say thank you for what you have done. Now I’m not trying to blame anyone but I blame you! You are Making people feel bad because some of them can not afford things these days. Gas prices and food prices are going up and it is driving people crazy. Parents having to work extra hours for the bare minimum all to do what? Feed their children and make sure that they are okay. Now I’m not trying to say anything but I am just trying to prove a point! All of our lives are in your hands. You are the future leaders and you need to be making the right descion for not only us children but our families. Life is getting harder.

Task description: This week during Extension, we were working on our Manaiakalani film festival script because next term we are going to watch our films of the big screen at Sylvia Park. In my group it was me, Hailey, Kensi, Victoria and we were all working on one doc but we all wrote different paragraphs on one point we were trying to make. I talked about how our voices weren’t being heard and how we should have a say in the election. This script is all about the problems and issues that the future government should be concerned about which is coming from 11-13 year olds. As a group we talked about a lot of different things going on in society nowadays and to be honest even at school lately. The next thing were gonna work on is the lay out of our script. After that we completed the task, we posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

KPMG

Task description: Hi my name is Zaria, and this term me and some of my friends went to KPMG with Miss Burton. It was amazing, especially the food! KPMG is one of the four largest audit and accounting firms in the world along with Deloitte, EY and PwC. These firms are known collectively as the Big Four and reported a combined worldwide revenue of over 157 billion U.S. dollars in 2020. We learned about healthly eating and did some work sheets on it. But this trip to KPMG was a little different cause this time they had worked toegther with “Synergy Health”. They also sent us pedometers to see how much we walk in a day and I would love to thank them for that. Synergy Health help organisations improve the lives of people. They see that every organisation, person and business is unique and special in there own way and want to allow people to live well in a way that’s right for them. Which they do by using there latest in delivery platform tech. Fun fact: Did you know that they partner with organisations to provide customisable wellbeing programs that support healthy employee behaviour change that’s relevant to the organisation and its people, and through education and informed, credible content, they deliver experiences that help people form healthy habits, empowering people to be their best, at work and in life. After that I completed the task, I posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Many of the world’s most important organisations are served by KPMG which provides audit, tax and consultancy services. KPMG is one of the most prominent professional services firms in the world. The multinational professional services network and one of the Big Four accounting firms, together with Ernst & YoungEY, Deloitte and PwC, is KPMG International Limitedor simply KPMG. Did you know that KPMG stands for Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler.

For the benefit of all New Zealanders, they do what matters at the heart of the values and culture of KPMG, and their purpose is to support the prosperity of New Zealand. They promote and support the efforts by their people to give back in their communities, of which volunteering, fundraising and leadership are a part, along with an important proportion of pro bono work that makes a positive impact on various nonprofit organisations and charities.

There National Community Team is composed of members from each of our 7 offices in Aotearoa New Zealand and serves to prioritise priorities for the Strategic Communities. Each of the offices links up with local organisations that matter to our people in this region. To find out more about their activities in the area of Community and Green Team, as well as see how they have inspired community partners, please follow these updates on Citizenship.

The KPMG workers had been nice enough to offer our school a trip to the KPMG building. We spent a whole day with them and got a tour of the building and each of the levels of the block. As we learnt about matter and the three states of matter, we did different science experiments, such as growing crystals and making slime to show chemical changes and physical changes.

We learnt how there are three states of matter, solid, liquid and gas. Which have different properties, thus can be explained by looking at the arrangement of their particles. This is the theoretical temperature at which particles have the least amount of energy and the slowest movement.

They had even worked hard to put together morning tea and lunch for us and we appreciated that very much. We loved our time there and hope to go back there soon and learn a bunch of new things with the amazing KPMG crew. The KPMG members got to volunteer to spend the day with us and so many of them did.

Dear New Government…

Task description: This week during Extension, we are learning about different problems for different age groups. What I mean by this is that parents have to worry about money and providing for their family, as for kids we don’t have to worry about things like that, but we still have our own responsibility, such as school, sports, looking after siblings, and house work.

Our main 4 topics were:

  1. Issues that may be important to our parents, units, uncles, and teachers?
  2. Issues that are important to 11-13 year olds?
  3. Issues that may be important to people who are retired (65+)?
  4. Issues that are important to toddlers?

Something no one have thought about yet was toddlers, so me and my group added another page for that because that was sometime we should be looking if we were looking at all age groups. The stick notes in pink was my group. After that I completed the task, and I posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Task description: This week during Extension we did some read an article called “In pictures: traditional dress around the world” which was written by Alice Park. It was really interesting to see all of the information we found out about different cultures and seeing all of there clothing. After that I completed the task, and posted it on my blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

My Design & Info

Task description: This week during Extension, we were looking at 3 words, social consciousness, sustainability, cultural appropriation, and anything else about fashion & culture.  We are becoming fashion designer and we have been tasked to design 2 outfits for a special family occasion. Create concept designs for this new outfit. We had to think about colour/patterns/material that is appropriate for the climate, culture etc, and make sure our design is sustainable and socially conscious.

We had to create these designs on Photopea or Scratch, and we had to also make sure your finished project uses new vocabulary and detailed annotations or voice over. But for this week we just had to share our designs so far on our blog. This is how far I have got this week and next week I hope to learn a bit more on my second design. I have already finished our term 2 extension project but I would still love to learn more about the fijian culture.

The culture I picked was Fijian and I have used different patterns from the culture in my dress and shirt. I decided to do a wedding for my occasion because I wanted to learn more about the clothing and it interested me very much. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Social Consciousness: That could mean being aware of how your actions will impact others, being able to read other people’s emotions through verbal and non-verbal cues, and seeing a situation as if you were standing in someone else’s shoes.

Sustainability: Sustainability is about small changes we can make to help look after the planet. Making these changes helps protect animals, plants and our natural resources so that future generations will be able to enjoy them.

Cultural Appropriation: Cultural appropriation involves stealing or misusing elements of another culture. These elements may be the shared ideologies and beliefs of people within a culture, their lifestyles, or even their creative and artistic productions.

Fashion & Culture: Fashion is most often thought of as a global industry that is invested in anticipating what we wear and how we wish to appear to others. But fashion isn’t just a business. It’s also a cultural and social phenomenon, driven by the desire for the new.

My Outfit Design

Create concept designs for this new outfit. We had to create these designs on Photopea or Scratch, and we had to also make sure your finished project uses new vocabulary and detailed annotations or voice over. But for this week we just had to share our progress on our blog. This is how far I have got this week and next week I hope to start colouring and adding detail next time. Trending Fashion

Task description: This week during Extension, we were learning about fashion and how different cultures have different styles of clothing. After that I completed the task, and I posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Fashion is the most general term and applies to any way of dressing, behaving, writing, or performing that is favored at any one time or place. The current fashion, style often implies a distinctive fashion adopted by people of taste.

Fashion is a form of self expression and independent within the context of time, place or specific situation in relation to clothing, footwear, life styles, accessories, beauty treatments, hair & body position. The term refers to a style which is trending in the fashion industry.

For this task we had to choose 2 items of clothing from different cultures. After that we had to describe the culture, country/countries associated with this clothing. Then we had to describe the clothing and research any meaning behind this clothing (is it a fashion statement, sustainable choice, religious statement, environmental choice or other?) We got to choose however we would like to present our findings.

Women’s Rights Protest

Tip: Click the spacebar to move from page to page

Task description: This term year 7 & 8 extension group have been working on Scratch projects. The scratch projects had to be about a protest of our choice, but it had to have happened in NZ. I decided to base my Scratch project on the Women’s Rights Movement, also called Women’s Liberation Movement – If you don’t know what that is you can join me on a short journey to learn about the Women’s Right Movement.

At the beginning of the year, Mrs Burton, also known as our Extension Teacher, gave a choice to pick any protest we wanted to make a scratch project on. If you’ve seen the title, the protest I chose was ” The Women’s Right Movement.

The reason behind why I chose to do my project on this protest is because I think that people all over the world should know about the Women’s Rights protest. If it wasn’t for the Women’s Rights protest all the famous women in the world would not be who they are today, that’s why I am here to share with you what I have learned from this activity.

Mrs Burton thought it would be fun for us to learn a little about New Zealand history. Protests have happened in New Zealand for many, many years – And of course not all of them were successful but that’s okay because failure is success in progress.

After some research I have found that 46 protests have been held in New Zealand, and there could be more but I have only found 46. I would love to know if there are more, so if you know of some I may have missed, let me know.

Planning this was very hard especially knowing I had to show both viewpoints, but I worked hard to try and show that. I’m hoping you can see both sides of the protest, and if not, I would love feedback on how I can improve for next time. This Project is really fun because I got to create amazing drawings in Scratch, and share them with you.

Here is my Extension Project! I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed it. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog. And I love to hear some feedback from you guys. Ka Kite Ano, have a lovely day!
