Thank you ma’am: Word Associations Activity

Task description: This week during Reading, we are learning to identify and discuss the theme. We are also learning to identify and discuss the author’s stance and message. For this task we had to choose which word goes where and give a reason or reasons for our choice. My highlight was finishing my work pretty fast and being able to understand my work really well. I don’t have a lowlight for this week because so far I have had fun doing the work and been able to do it really fast. This week I don’t have anything I want to work on as I have understood my work and finished it off really fast. After that I completed the task, I posted it on my blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Thank you Ma’am: Response to text

Task description: This week during Reading, I did Thank you Ma’am – Respond to text. We had to read a 4 page story called “Thank you Ma’am” by Langston Hughes. As a child being raised by his grandmother in Lawrence, Kansas, Langston Hughes began a lifelong exploration of literature and blues music. He later went to Columbia University, worked in hotels, and travelled the world as a cook’s assistant. After being discovered, Hughes went on to write novels, short stories, and plays as well as poems. Hughes’s work shows a special understanding of everyday people – people who may not be famous or rich but whose lives are inspiring and valuable nonetheless.

This reading work was really interesting to complete and the book was really weird because the lady was angry with the boy and kind of kidnapped him for about an hour or so. The lady took the boy back to her home and told him to wash his face. She then made some food for them and asked the boy about his life. The boy had a really tough and hard life. He had no family to look after him at home and that he was struggling with money and food. Then the lady released him and told him to not steal her purse ever again.

My highlight was making the video with my buddy, because it was really fun and behind the scenes we just giggled and laughed. My lowlight is reading the book because it was long and answering the questions because it was boring and kind of weird. Something I’ll work on next time is to start enjoying reading more and to start understanding the text. I enjoyed reading today. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Thank you!

Country Physical Poster

Task description: This week during Reading, we were making posters on a country of our choice. I chose to do FInland. I was gonna do it alone but then my friend Swaimah wanted to do it with me so we became partners. We reached Finland for 2 weeks and gathered information about the place and its history. We had a lot of fun doing that but it made us so happy seeing all our hard work come to life and it all being worth it.

Our highlight was making what I had in my mind coming to life. Our Low light is cutting the papers and worrying if the papers won’t fit. Usually we have something to work on but I think this week we did a good job. After that we completed the task, we posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Speech Reflection

Task description: This week during Writing, we are reflecting on how we did on our speech which we read last week to our class. I was freaking out so much the whole week coming to the day we read our speeches but at the end I felt I did pertty good. It was so good to see that I memorised my speech and I was really happy about that. I made some compelling arguments. I know I was nervous but I delivered it with confidence. I think because of the nerves I spoke quite quickly but I’m sure this would change if I were to do it again.

My high light was being able to understand my work and being able to say it in front of everyone. Low light not being able to concentration because I was nerves. Some thing I can work on is spending less time on my work and more time trying to calm myself so I can speak properly. After that we completed the task, we posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog.

Task description: This week during reading, we are learning to monitor ourselves to finish a novel, compare and contrast, make Inferences, and make connections. We are learning to explain a point of view of a character a justify why we think this and keep up with our group. Meaning if we fall behind we catch up. After that I completed the task, and I posted it on our blog. I enjoyed this task very much, and I hope to do more like this soon. Hope you enjoyed. Please leave a comment; thank you for visiting my blog. For my first task I had to pretend I are a judge listening to Sofia’s speech (Sofia is a girl in a book we a reading called “Dawn Raid”). We had to say what our feedback and score would be. We had to create a judging report card to display this. After that I completed both of the task, and I posted it on my blog.
