KPMG

Many of the world’s most important organisations are served by KPMG which provides audit, tax and consultancy services. KPMG is one of the most prominent professional services firms in the world. The multinational professional services network and one of the Big Four accounting firms, together with Ernst & YoungEY, Deloitte and PwC, is KPMG International Limitedor simply KPMG. Did you know that KPMG stands for Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler. For the benefit of all New Zealanders, they do what matters at the heart of the values and culture of KPMG, and their purpose is to support the prosperity of New Zealand. They promote and support the efforts by their people to give back in their communities, of which volunteering, fundraising and leadership are a part, along with an important proportion of pro bono work that makes a positive impact on various nonprofit organisations and charities.

The KPMG workers had been nice enough to offer our school a trip to the KPMG building. We spent a whole day with them and got a tour of the building and each of the levels of the block. As we learnt about technology and how you can use coding to create things that make sounds of all kinds with a little bit of foil, paper, and your imagination. We started off with the tour but our group made it back before the others so we sat in one of the KPMG rooms with one of the helpers. We got to get to know her better and share our own life and things like that. It was really fun and she was really sweet. By the time we finished our conversation the other groups were back and we had an amazing morning tea provided by KPMG.

Next we did the project KPMG had prepared for us to do with them. They gave us a bunch of different coloured paper, pens, pencils, etc… We had to use them to design a monster or a drawing with our imagination, we had the ability to design anything we wanted. After that we had to cut out pieces of our drawings and add foil behind it. Using the foil on our drawings we could code the drawing to say things. We had to connect our chromebooks to the paper and foil using wires that KPMG provided for us to use.

We’re so thankful for everything they did for us such as how hard they worked to put together morning tea and lunch for us and we appreciated that very much. We loved our time there and hope to go back there soon and learn a bunch of new things with the amazing KPMG crew. The KPMG members got to volunteer to spend the day with us and so many of them did which gave us such a good feeling. THANK YOU KMPG!!!
